Part 1 - This way of life
Ponder for just a moment - "what do I want to create and leave behind in this life?" Think on it.
I have felt deeply connected to Earth, wanting to cherish and protect all things natural - for as long as I can remember. Wanting to live alongside nature, peacefully, not against it. As though this forward flow is our soul's most meaningful mission.
In 2017 - 9 years ago, while inwardly seeking answers, guidance! With big changes pending. I asked myself - "what do I want my life to look like, feel like, be like"? What can evolve from what is started? What could it all become? How could it nurture my children, as they grow. How could it replenish my soul. How could I inspire change on Earth, for other's, for life, for the better?
- By living it myself. Authentically.
I sat with what was needed, what each step looked like, and all the many paths that could potentially direct me towards it. Towards a way of living, a way of life - that felt aligned, abundant, connected and deeply nourishing. While being realistically and financially possible. Freeing even.
I wanted to be within nature, remotely tucked away, where everything felt natural! Where my children could run free!
High into the mountains we went! Transforming an old shed into a beautiful home. Slowly but surely. Turning an acre of bare land into an abundant, diverse, productive oasis. Year by year. Step by step.
Choosing remote living and a smaller space over huge debt was the beginning. It's the cheapest and most realistic property option available, whether it's long term or another stepping stone.
Find a space where the soil feels alive, the water is pure and the air is clean! Maybe it's family land? A rent to own deal? Remote and cheap land? Ex-forestry plots? Coming together with those who are grounded and honest to buy land as a group? There are options, pathways, that lead towards self determining freedom and communal abundance.
I wanted to step into new spaces of learning, redirecting and adapting! And I felt ready! Pushing my comfort zone aside in order to create big things! Purposeful things. Worthy of my energy, focus and exhaustion - things.
We moved into the hills. And there it began.
Living off grid - soley reliant on our Sun for power. Homesteading. Growing heirloom food organically, seed saving and banking seasonal varieties. Now with over 100 varieties. Composting, mulching and feeding the soil. Preserving, dehydrating and freezing produce. Bringing the backyard into the pantry - into every meal. Living from and alongside the land, with huge gardens, orchards, animals, chickens, ducks, ponies. Hunting, fishing, trading.
Supporting local and organic options, always. Homeschooling, learning how to learn - through inspiration and inquisitiveness. Encouraging creative and logical thinking - through harmonious learning patterns. Designing and building Businesses that reflect and support this kind of lifestyle - nurturing a full circle way of living, being and doing that gifts abundance back, by living in a way that feels aligned. Weaving that lifestyle - livelihood balance.
It's 2026 now. This is my life, my lifestyle. It's how I live, it's what I love. It is my purpose. It's a constant flow of building, expanding, growing, creating and ofcourse MAINTAINING. But we do it - for our own wellbeing, for the Earth, for our children, and for all generations to come.
Teaching a more wholesome and healthier way of living. Living as the REMEDY. Not as part of the dis-ease. Being the example, in humble and hardworking action - around what it takes to BE the change. And it is the most worthy and rewarding work. I know this to be true, on the deepest levels.
Each and every day leads you closer to true grounded freedom, abundance and alignment. This is the coolest part! This lifestyle is alive! It breathes and grows with you! Becoming more knowledgeable and expansive - together. Learning from the land.
Thoughts alone can't create and anchor this reality, but you can most definitely make it happen! It's envisioned then built, protected, expanded and nourished. It's passed down, as honest opportunity for the next generations. In the form of knowledge around living successfully this way or having this way of life set up for them or both. This feels like the whole point of it all to me, honouring the future, as their guardian's here and now.
